Holy Cross Catholic School is happy to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Catholic Schools Week will take place the week of January 30th through February 3rd. There are many fun activities planned for the week thanks to our Catholic Schools Committee. You can find the schedule of events listed below.
Monday…. today we celebrated mass, wore our “kicks” to kick off the week, made cards for Deacon Bob, and each class was able to oreview the book fair!
Tuesday….we had our Special Person day where students were able to invite a special person(s) in their lives to come to tour the school with them, go to the book fair, and enjoy refreshments and coloring activities that they could do together. We also had three games of family feud in the afternoon with grades 1 through 8.
Wednesday…. was Fitness Day. Mr. C and members of the 8th-grade class helped organize the morning so that all classes would have some time to do fitness activities in the gym. In the afternoon we had our annual 8th-grade vs. staff volleyball game.
Thursday…. was Teacher Appreciation Day. Teachers were treated to lunch by Dr. Worrilow, and Mrs. Spurrier and Miss Sheila came around with a special treat. Father Kiernan also provided special snacks throughout the week for the staff. We also had a large game of buddy bingo in the afternoon in the gym with grades K to 8. The kids had a blast playing and we had many who got bingo and were able to pick from a variety of prizes.
Friday…. was Student Appreciation Day. Students were able to dress down today. Student council members collected all the travel-size toiletries classes collected for Covenant House. We started the day off with a dance party in the gym for our youngest students. Mid-morning we held a talent show with student participants in grades 3 through 7. A video of the performances will be posted sometime next week, so be on the lookout! After lunch students were treated to a rosati water ice snack and Father Kiernan gave all the students a package of cookies to take home at the end of the day.
We were able to collect over 700 items for people in need. They were donated to Divine Providence Village and Don Guanella.
Congratulations to Miss Coleman’s class on collecting 241 items and winning a popcorn movie party!
Thank you to all of our teachers, staff, students, parents, Dr. Worrilow, and Father Kiernan for a wonderful Catholic Schools Week!
